Labor of Love: 374 Miles, 8,122 Steps, and 11 Folders for Nurses

Posted Tuesday, July 22, 2025

I don’t have a long blog in me today.

But I do have this:

This week, I flew 374 miles, walked 8,122 steps across Sacramento, and hand-delivered 11 policy folders to leaders who have the power to protect nurses.

Why?Because support is still missing.Because nurse-led recovery is still not standard.Because burnout, discrimination, and career loss are happening in plain sight—and I refuse to let silence win.

Every folder I dropped off was a labor of love. A declaration. That your healing matters. That your license is worth protecting. That your growth and continued employment deserve systems, not shame.

I didn’t make this trip for clout.I made it because making this work mandatory means someone finally stood up and said:Enough.

I do this work for nurses who are holding it all together while falling apart. For the ones who’ve been told to take time off—but never given a way forward. For the ones who’ve lost trust in the system, but not in themselves.

This isn’t the end. It’s Tuesday—and I’m just getting started.
